Behind the Scenes of Destiny Cruises

Construction for Destiny's first vessel, the North Star, began in late October, 2013, at SkipperLiner Headquarters in La Crosse, Wisconsin – one of the largest passenger vessel manufacturers in the United States.

Pending lifted road restrictions for transportation of the vessel to Gull Lake, the cruise line will begin offering day and evening cruises open to the public as well as private charters aboard the new $1.8 million dollar, 65’ long by 22’ wide vessel on Gull Lake in June, 2014. The floor plan includes two levels with spacious seating designed to accommodate up to 120 passengers. The design also offers two full bars and a top-deck open BBQ – perfect for hosting receptions, weddings, family reunions, office parties and more!

Owners Jerry Johnson, Liz Diedrich and Reid Porter are proud to offer Destiny Cruises on Gull Lake to visitors and residents of all ages.

"We have studied the market for over a year and selected Gull Lake due to its proximity and readiness," according to Destiny Cruises partner Liz Diedrich, owner of Twin Cities-based research and marketing firm Diedrich RPM. "We have already begun hiring local talent and anticipate that 85% of the operating expenditures will be focused in the Brainerd Lakes area. Since we intend to be an attraction in Brainerd, we are already becoming involved in the community's activities and programs to establish our residency in the area. Toward that goal, the vessel owners have met with area hospitality partners and resorts to include them as tentative pick-up points for their guests."
